To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the first publication of manga series Akira Namco Bandai have teamed up with Casio to release two Akira x G-Shock collaboration models. The original 2182-page manga epic was adapted into cinematic form and released in 1988 at the seminal anime film Akira (アキラ). The Akira x G-Shock DW-6900 Kaneda features a red band and bezel, pill EL and has the motif 'GOOD FOR HEALTH BAD FOR EDUCATION' on the band which featured on the license of Akira character Kaneda. The Akira x G-Shock DW-5600 Neo Tokyo has a white band and bezel with red detailed dial. The EL shows the Akira logo with the words 'July 1988 – World War III Breaks Loose. After a small August release Casio Japan have made amends with the massive September 2012 G-Shock drop featuring eleven new models. The big news this month is the release of the first batch of 30th Anniversary models along with the new GAC-100 and GD-110 models. Read on for more details and images.... Casio Japan have announced the October 2012 G-Shock release and it's another big one with 16 new models. None of the new models are specific to the 30th Anniversary range but there is no doubt Casio are pulling out the stops to ensure we'll have plenty to talk about (and buy ;) ) over the next few months. The highlights include The Reptiles Pack, this mini pack includes three DW-6900CR models with a special crocodile skin textured band and bezel. Casio have once again teamed up with Cartoon Network's Adult Swim to release a G-Shock collaboration, the Metalocalypse x Casio G-Shock DW-6900FSAS-1GJOU. The Metalocalypse x Casio G-Shock DW-6900 is inspired by cult Heavy Metal cartoon Metalocalypse and features the logo to the dial, custom caseback and a skull backlight EL. Word has reached us here at G-Shockzone that a G-Shock store is opening in SoHo, New York City sometime soon! The G-Shock store is located at 454 W Broadway, New York, NY and should be open before Christmas 2012, the website indicates Fall 2012. New York has been lacking a dedicated G-Shock store so this is great news. Expect the new NYC G-Shock store to feature the latest models along with artowork by G-Shock collaborator Eric Haze. G-Shock have teamed up with Nick Clement's of Men's File magazine to create this retro styled Men's File x G-Shock GW-3000. Hot on the heels of last months Lower x G-Shock DW-5600LOW-9V which featured a leather watch protector this super limited edition features a leather strap and full leather watch protector. The leather work has been carried out in Sussex, UK by a Master Saddler so is set to be of an extremely high standard. This military styled collaboration has a nod back to 1940s aviators - we're sure if the RAF had been issuing G-Shocks back then this would be the one. Casio has announced the G-Shock Lover's Collection for 2012. This year two sets are being released, the all white LOV-12A set and black LOV-12B set. The LOV-12A set features a G-Shock GA-200 and Baby-G BGA-130 both are gloss white with gold hands and feature custom heart shaped packaging. According to Casio the white 'expresses the romantic pomp of a White Christmas'. The LOV-12B set features a G-Shock DW-6900 and Baby-G BG-6900 both in gloss black with some pink details to the dial along with the custom heart shaped packaging. The black LOV-12B set is designed after the illumination of a snowy Christmas Eve with the pink details reminding the proud wearers of berries. Really. Japanese marketing which perhaps doesn't translate so...

Casio have teamed up with Japanese toy brand MediCom on the upcoming Be@rbrick x G-Shock DW-6900MT-7. This new bear themed collaboration was spotted by Japanese tech blog mynavi during the G-Shock Fall (or Autumn) 2012 presentation at Casio's Tokyo HQ. The Be@rbrick x G-Shock DW-6900MT-7 is due January 2013, price is yet to be announced. News via mynavi.

To celebrate 40 years of broadcasting tvk (Kanagawa Television) have teamed up with Casio on this cyan tvk x G-Shock G-001 collaboration. The tvk x G-Shock G-001 features the tvk logo to band and keeper. If you want they are available from the tvk website until March 2013. Thanks to mynavi for the news.

Japanese brands X-Large and X-Girl have teamed up with G-Shock to release two collaborations, the X-Large x G-Shock DW-6900 and X-Girl x G-Shock DW-6900. The X-Large x G-Shock DW-6900 comes in black and features the OG X-Large Gorilla in the EL, X-Large logo to dial and band along with a X-Large star pattern to band. The X-Girl x G-Shock DW-6900 also comes in black and features X-Girl logo to the dial and X-Girl custom EL. Both feature custom casebacks and come in custom X-Large x X-Girl x G-Shock packaging which features the Haze designed 30th logo. Both release Friday 23rd November, both probably Japan only, best bet is probably zozotown. Retail is 16800 Yen, approx USD$205, GBP£130 or €160. News via X-Large.

London store Garbstore have collaborated with Casio on this Garbstore x G-Shock GA-150. The Garbstore x G-Shock GA-150 features a white face with printed green check motif on strap. 'The Rules of Hiking Once More' and 'Tenderfoot & Second Class' printed on strap as well as Outdoor Code branded speech bubble. The watch comes packaged in a limited edition stickered box with metal G-Shock case and user's guide. The Garbstore-x-G-Shock-GA-150 can be purchased in store or via the garbstore website. 'Global pop icon' and Baby-G brand ambassador Ke$ha has once again teamed up with Baby-G to release an all new collaboration for November / December 2012. The all new model Baby-G x Ke$ha BGA-160KS-7B was announced at a LA press conference last month. The Baby-G x Ke$ha BGA-160KS-7B reflects reflects the eye-catching essence of the “Die Young” singer/songwriter. Apparently. Anyhow the watch features a custom Ke$ha logo to the dial, backlight, caseback and band, crisp white band and bezel, gold dial and of course custom packaging. Baby-G is paying it forward by supporting a Humane Society International initiative close to the star’s heart, their Street Dog Welfare Program. Casio Japan are dropping fourteen new Baby-G models for November 2012. The release sees some interesting new colorways for existing models like the BGA-301 along with the always well received G-Shock / Baby-G Lover's Packs which we previewed last month. Casio (in conjuntion with NEC) are set to release the G'zOne TYPE-L G-Shock styled smartphone in Japan early next year. Following Casio showing a G-Shock smartphone prototype at CES 2012 earlier this year we were hoping this would see a release, however it looks like many of the features of the prototype have been carried over to the G'zOne Type-L. Casio have announced three new ProTrek models for October 2012. The big news this month is the release of the ProTrek PWX-8000T-7 Manaslu edition which features a tianium band and bezel, distinctive analog display driven by Casio's Smart Access system along with all the normal ProTrek functionality. The remainder of the release is made up by the ProTrek Black Titan line, the ProTrek PRW-5100YT-1C and ProTrek PRW-2500YT-1. Both feature black ion plated titanium and stainless band and bezels. The CLOT x G-Shock DW-6900CL-4 which we previewed a couple of months back is set for release on the 19th October 2012. The Hong Kong based lifestyle brand have once again teamed up with Casio to release this collaboration which features a jelly band and bezel in CLOT's signature red, CLOT logo on the caseback and face and custom packaging. Casio USA have announced the release of the blackout and whiteout collection in the US. The new G-Shocks are set to hit stores March 2012. The collection is known elsewhere as the 'Solid Colors' pack, see the sneak peek we brought you of the G-Shock 2012 new releases along with the March 2012 G-Shock release which includes three of the four models slated for a imminent US release - the GA-120BB-1A with solid matte black band and bezel with high gloss accents and the DW-6900WW-7 and GD-100WW-7 which are available in crisp white with eye-catching mirror dial treatments. Spotted at the recent Shock the World NYC event snowboard legends Burton have teamed up with G-Shock for the first time on the Burton x G-Shock GDF-100BTN-1.
