Import tax duty

Has anyone recently ordered their watch from either Hong Kong or Japan and paid a duty fee when they have gone to collect their parcel?
I have seen a few examples of watches I would consider buying on eBay for example but I am conscious of how much additional money would be involved which of course influences my decision of whether or not to buy one.

I've bought 4 watches from Japan and never been charged duty

Eh, someone call my name, sorry, been asleep.

So far I have had no problems with imports from Singapore, Japan, China or Hong Kong. If you are buying from the US expect to pay VAT, import duty and collection charge on anything that arrives, very occasionally something sneaks through under the radar but most packages from the States get caught. Channel Islands attract HMRC attention too

Also got stung on a Casiotron from from Korea , Duty + £15 Admin Fee , ended up paying double.
